Working within the TUI BLUE & Hotel Concepts team you will be tasked to deliver a new payment solution to enable Select Your Room (SYR) to be transactable on As part of this you will also be tasked delivery a solution that will allow distribution of revenue between THOB, Hotelier and TUI Tour Operator.

The payment project is integral to the wider BLUE Horizon project – one of the key strategic initiatives of the TUI Group with the goal of making TUI BLUE the world’s leading leisure hotel brand. This intern is seen as one of the most important projects to enable TUI to come out of the pandemic stronger and grow through a hybrid distribution model (direct and TO) seeing TUI BLUE grow to 350 hotels by 2031. The payment solution will enable one of the key proposition USPs of TUI BLUE to be scaled across the entire portfolio and also be able to then be used to transact all/future ancillary payments. This will lead to the creation of multi million-euro revenue stream for TUI BLUE the hotel brand and TUI Tour Operators. 

This is a truly unique role and may have the option of extension as the BLUE Horizon project accelerates past its ‘launch’ next year. 



You will work across various teams within TUI BLUE & Hotel Concepts as well as Group IT, ecommerce at a Group and source market level and interact with other payment projects ongoing within the business to ensure support is gained where necessary and duplication is avoided. 


The role will involve exploration to understand the technical requirements needed to deliver this and where stakeholders need to be brought in to help deliver the project. Stakeholder management will be absolutely key and also the ability to deal with ambiguity, certainly at the start of the project in the scoping stage, is essential. 

You will need to deliver PSP and acquirer(s) for SYR product, International and alternative payment options (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDeal, Sofort, AliPay, WeChatPay etc.), plus Bacs Direct Debit.  A roadmap of delivery will need to be created in line with the wider BLUE Horizon project time schedules.  


New processes for pay-out schedules and pay-out methods will need to be devised as well as working on a commercial model that specifies how money will move from the customer to THOB and pay-outs then made to hotelier and Tour Operator. Regulatory and legal requirement will need to be investigated (e.g. PCI DSS compliant) as well as all deliverables being tax compliant in all relevant territories.

  • Understanding of acquirers and PSP’s and how to liaise with and implement
  • Implementing online payment products
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and push through ‘red tape’
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance processes associated with payment facilitation and money transmission (international)
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with a strong sense of teamwork and an ability to deal with stakeholders at varying level of seniority
  • Demonstrable ability to engage key stakeholders and passionately lobby, persuade and influence projects and people over whom they have no direct control
  • Experience of managing and delivering multiple projects in parallel within time and budget constraints
