The joint venture of TUI AG and the US cruise company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. employs around 750 people in Hamburg and Berlin. On board of the ships, 136 positions are managed directly by TUI Cruises GmbH. A fleet of eight ships sails for the brand Mein Schiff®. Since the end of 2020, the brand Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has also been part of TUI Cruises GmbH with a fleet of currently five ships. The Mein Schiff® fleet offers contemporary vacation cruises at sea in the premium segment (Mein Schiff 1 to Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff Relax). Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is the leading luxury and expedition cruise brand in the German-speaking world with a 130-year history. Purchasing Manager (all gender)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In close cooperation with our Hamburg based project managers and the ships you are responsible for the purchasing of our cruise vessels.
• Research suppliers from a variety of usual and unusual sources
• Develop procurement and negotiation strategy based on few variables
• Perform moderately complex price analysis based on few variables and confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
• Negotiate price, availability, and works with logistics to define transportation and delivery schedule (i.e. ordering and storing schedule)
• Manage supplier performance to ensure consistent service, high quality and low costs of goods/services
• Work independently with minimum supervision and freedom of decision within guidelines.
• Attend trade shows, audit suppliers, visit ships for loadings, repositioning etc.
• During worldwide drydocks of the vessels you will be part of the project team om scene

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS  

• Commercial vocational training or bachelor degree or equivalent Ships related procurement experience or specialized technical experience required
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
• Negotiation and analytical skills required
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
• Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
