We're on the lookout for a Inflight Retail Trading Manager to take the lead in defining and delivering our retail and pre-order proposition across TUI Airline. In this role, you'll have a sharp focus on product innovation, selling strategies, and commercial performance, playing a pivotal part in shaping the future of our inflight retail experience for customers. You'll work closely with our Supply Chain function, Customer and Finance teams to manage supplier relationships, drive targeted availability, and develop sales growth through multiple selling channels. Reporting directly to the Head of Inflight Retail and Supply Chain, you'll lead and inspire a team of four direct reports responsible for category management, commercial performance, product strategy, and sales development, whilst also engaging with cabin crew management teams and trade unions to ensure our retail proposition truly takes flight.

 

This role offers hybrid working arrangements in line with local office attendance policies. Regular travel will be expected as part of this role.

ABOUT THE JOB

 

  • You'll play a lead role in defining our Inflight Retail strategy for TUI Airline, covering product categories and sales channels whilst driving revenue and margin in line with a clearly defined service proposition and customer expectations.
  • Responsibility sits with you for defining and delivering the overall Inflight Retail budget and P&L, optimising revenue and margin growth whilst balancing cost considerations, waste targets, and customer satisfaction across current and future sales channels.
  • Identifying new and innovative products to complement our onboard range is key, ensuring they appeal to customers and contribute significantly to their overall inflight experience by balancing today's successes with future opportunities.
  • Managing product selection and sourcing decisions ensures range proposals are market-relevant and delivered on time, whilst overseeing supplier relationships with a clear focus on cost, performance expectations, sustainability principles, and product innovation.
  • Working closely with Supply Chain and Finance colleagues, you'll define seasonal planning cycles and develop accurate sales forecasts and inventory plans that deliver high availability to maximise sales, balancing range performance with the restrictions of merchandising onboard aircraft.
  • You'll ensure the Trading team consistently uses data and insight to develop our proposition and manage commercial performance, helping to define future digital and analytical innovations whilst maintaining a clear focus on safety legislation, compliance standards, ethical sourcing, and sustainability objectives.

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Proven experience in Trading, Buying, or Category Management within a retail business, coupled with clear evidence of leadership skills to successfully navigate a critical portfolio of responsibilities.
  • You bring vision and confidence to contribute significantly to developing a retail strategic plan.
  • Strong commercial expertise is essential, along with financial acumen and strong analytical skills.
  • You have the ability to develop excellent supplier relationships with strategic partners.
  • A creative and progressive thinker, you can build a clear vision and motivate your team on that journey.
  • As a leader, you'll build an aligned team to deliver high performance in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills whilst being self-motivated to break down boundaries and deliver results.
