The International Public Policy and EU affairs team in Brussels represents the interest of the TUI Group vis-à-vis decision makers and stakeholders on EU level as well as in the TUI markets/regions as required. Amongst other responsibilities, we conduct stakeholder engagement, regularly monitor relevant EU public policy and legal proposals and prepare analyses to inform decision-making and planning within the Group. A crucial task in order for our business and all its market/regions to be well prepared in advance, regarding impactful developments and regulations for the tourism sector. To do so, we constantly liaise with different teams across TUI Group in all of Europe. This includes source markets and destinations’ policy teams, Group Sustainability, Communications, Group HR, TUI Care Foundation and TUI Stiftung.
YOUR ROLE: WHAT WILL YOU BE BRINGING TO THE DEPARTMENT
Tasks include, depending on the department's current goals:
1. Participation in TUI's public policy stakeholder dialogue on EU level and its coordination across TUI Group source markets.
2. Administrative tasks related to the everyday management and organisation of the office.
3. Contribution to existing formats for internal reporting and development of new formats where needed.
4. Monitoring of EU legislative activities relevant for TUI and contributing to the preparation of briefings/presentations.
5. Contribution to the digital footprint of the Corporate Office (i.e. social media, website, blogs etc.) and supporting the Director and the team in their everyday activities.
6. Contribution to organisation of events (physical or virtual), including preparing concepts, invitation of guests and speakers and follow-up, preparing event content, practical organisation, communication activities.
ABOUT YOU, WHAT SKILLS DO YOU BRING?:
1. Basic knowledge of the EU Environment and Institutions.
2. Fluent English is an absolute requirement as it is the working language. German, French, Dutch and other EU languages are an asset.
3. Research and organisational skills.
4. An open and communicative personality, motivated and hands-on.
The intern can expect to learn about the position of tourism and aviation in the international and European policy environment, will have the chance to engage with policy stakeholders and decision makers on EU and international level, and will learn about the political challenges and opportunities for the tourism and aviation sector. Our intern can expect to develop or improve the following skills: research techniques, communication strategy, policy analysis, EU institutional knowledge, understating of the international business environment, EU legislation, and other organising and drafting skills.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
This is an unpaid internship of min. 2 months, starting from February and which will take place in Brussels and will consist of a 39-hour week.
